Checkout revolution at Rewe: There has never been a branch like this in Germany for cheap food delivery

In Cologne, Rewe customers can now shop without going through a checkout. The company has converted its Zeppelinstraße branch into a "Pick & Go" market, as reported by the "Lebensmittel Zeitung". This means that you can simply exit the market after selecting the goods you want.

The system works as follows: At the entrance, customers check in using the Rewe app "Pick&Go". After that, they can walk through the store as usual and take the goods from the shelves. A large number of cameras, weight sensors on the shelves and an AI monitor which goods are being packed. At the end, the customers leave the store and the purchase amount is debited from the deposited account.
